Henricus Colledge 1619 Chancellor Steven C. Smith shares an illustration of the original Virginia defined by the Virginia Company Charter of a.d. 1606 where it covered the lands from Sea to Shining Sea and formed much of what we know today as "America", from the border with Canada south to the border of South Carolina across the Continent.

House Joint Resolution No. 304

The 4th "WHEREAS"...
the 1606 Virginia Charter stated that the Virginia Company, which existed from 1606 to 1624, promoted the spreading of Christianity overseas by "accepting of their desires to the furtherance of so noble a work... in propagating of Christian religion"; and

The 8th "WHEREAS"...
the assembly that gathered in 1619 opened with a prayer and an oath, the equivalent of a pledge of allegiance, and enacted the founding of America's first college campus to be along the James River at the 1611 Citie of Henricus; and

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, that the General Assembly hereby commend the 400th Anniversary Celebration of the 1606 First Virginia Charter, which may be thought of as the birth of American civilization, and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chancellor Steven C. Smith and Henricus Colledge (1619)(R) as an expression of the General Assembly of Virginia's appreciation for the importance of the 1606 First Virginia Charter.

The 400th Anniversary of American Civilization was celebrated on 10 April anno domini 2006 at the Citie of Henricus Historical Park in Chesterfield, Virginia.

The visionary of the 400th Anniversary Celebration of American Civilization is the Chancellor of Henricus Colledge, 1619 (R), Steven C. Smith.

Cannon Salute from Henricus Militia for 400th Anniversary

With the Hadad Lake 38 black powder cannon, the Henricus Militia fired a Salute, which was answered by blasts of the boat horns of the two United States Coast Guard Auxilliary boats that below the cliffs of Henricus were on patrol in the waters of the James River at Dutch Gap.

Chancellor Smith has done a great service to America in awakening both citizens and a few scholars to the true history of the Grand Founders, the Englishmen who came to Virginia to "propagate the Christian religion..." to the inhabitants of this New World.

1st Hospital - Henricus - Mount Malady

Many maladies were apparent in the settlers who arrived in Virginia after the long trans-Atlantic crossing. The Mount Malady Hospital was a place to recover from the voyage before challenging and taming the frontier, and sharing their Christian faith with the native inhabitants of Virginia, the purpose of the Virginia Company, for "propagating the Christian religion...".

An important note in this time line is that it incorrectly describes Jamestowne as a "Colony". Virginia was the Colony, Jamestowne was the first "Settlement" in the colony of Virginia in a.d. 1607. The second settlement was the Citie of Henricus in a.d. 1611. A latter settlement was Plymouth in a.d. 1620, in the northern area of the Colony of Virginia, in what is today called Massachusetts.
